On a Stick Index

The On a Stick Index (OaSI) tracks how common prices change at the Minnesota State Fair and compares those changes with broader inflation trends. Our team, colloquially known as the Purple Price Trackers, collects and analyzes the data, gaining hands-on experience with economic research. The project aims to make inflation more tangible while highlighting the economic questions embedded in an iconic Minnesota tradition.
