1) Please participate in the online classes from Monday to Thursday. I will record attendance after each class. Please do not be absent. Your attendance rate accounts for 20% of your final total grade.
(I understand that unexpected things always happen in life. If you encounter something unexpected and are unable to attend the online class, please notify me in advance and inform me of the reason for your absence. This will ensure that I will not accidentally count you as absent. Students who do not notify me in advance or tell me the reason, I will count you as absent.)
(When participating in online classes on zoom, please ensure that your profile shows your real name. Here are tutorials of how to upload your name via phone👈 and computer👈 . This will ensure that I will not identify the wrong person and accidentally mark you as absent.
(I suggest you upload a photo of yourself on your profile. If you don’t want to upload a photo of yourself, you can also upload any photo you like [for example, photos of your pets, photos of your children, photos of natural scenery photos, etc.]. Here are tutorials of how to upload your photo via phone👈 and computer👈.)
2) Please send me a photo of your notes on Canvas (a software that can be opened on mobile phones and computers) after each class. If you are absent from a class, please watch the video I uploaded on Canvas after each class and take notes, and then upload photos of your notes to Canvas. I will record the number of times you complete the notes, and the total number of photos of the notes you upload will account for 30% of your final score.
(Every student takes notes differently. You can take notes any way you like. I don't ask my students to record everything I teach in class verbatim in their notebooks. All you need to do is write down in your notebook the parts of the lectures that you think are important to you. If you feel that taking notes is not helpful to you, please contact me and explain to me why taking notes is not helpful to you, and I will use your reasons to decide whether you should continue taking and submitting notes☺️.)
3) Please actively participate in the class and interact actively with your teacher and your classmates. Class participation accounts for 15% of your final grade.
(I don’t require you to turn on your camera every class. The decision whether to turn on the camera or not is up to you. But turning on the camera and letting me see your face increases your presence in the class, which also helps me support you by observing your facial expressions. If you express confusion on camera, I can slow down the pace of my teaching to help you better understand what you are learning in class😊.)
(In this course, you will have the opportunity to interact and communicate one-on-one with your classmates. When communicating one-on-one with your classmates during online classes, please do not remain silent or ignore your classmates. This not only makes you lose the opportunity to practice your English speaking skills and make friends, but it is also a sign of disrespect for your classmates. 🙏Please do your best to actively interact with your classmates. If you are unable to interact, please inform your classmates in advance why you cannot interact with them.)
4) Pass the midterm and final tests, your test scores account for 35% of your total grade.
1.I will treat you with dignity and respect and be flexible to support your individual needs.
2.I will provide you with a clear, organized course that is designed to ensure you meet our course outcomes in a meaningful manner.
3.I will provide a variety of assignments to ensure your learning needs are met.
4.I will be actively present in your learning.
5.I will provide a supportive and safe environment for you to share and discuss ideas with your peers.
6.I will reach out to you when I sense that you need support.
7.I won't be perfect. I am human and will make mistakes at times. I will view mistakes as an opportunity to learn and grow.
8.I strongly encourage students to speak up and read along in class because this is a sign of their efforts to improve their English speaking skills😊. But if a student makes noise in class that is not related to learning, and the noise affects other students in the class to focus on the class and hear what the teacher is saying clearly, then I will mute the student's microphone. I will do my best to ensure that students have a learning environment that helps them focus and learn.
9.Is there anything else you would like to add to this list? If so, you can share your suggestions with me via email, text message, or WhatsApp☺️.
1.You will carefully complete the four requirements I mentioned previously in order to pass this course
(#1 participate in online classes on time, #2 actively interact with teachers and classmates in class, #3 submit notes on Canvas, #4 pass midterm and final tests).
