Course Essentials

Basic English reading skills:

1. Identify the phonetic sound of constants and short vowels and sound out frequently used words. 

2. Identify basic phonics and recognize common words.

3. Read, using word recognition, with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension of personal information, days, months and common words in level appropriate format.

Basic English speaking skills:

1. Use accurate English grammar, using standard capitalization, punctuation, and spelling for writing.

2. Identify and seek the meaning of new words and word combinations in written or spoken language. 

3. Select correct word choices in response to spoken English.

We will use "Canvas" a lot in this course. "Canvas" is an online platform for learning, organizing courses, assignments, and collaboration. Students like you can use "Canvas" for accessing course materials, submitting assignments, and communicating with teachers. Teachers like me can also use "Canvas" for organizing, managing, and delivering lessons. Do you know how to log in to Canvas and enter our course?
