Schools are amazing microcosms when change can happen. Scarborough Zero Waste is working with educators and administrators who want to make a difference but need help.
In the following document, you will find the workshop description as well as the Ontario Ministry of Education expectations in various topic so teachers can justify the integration of the workshop with their class. The workshop is given in person even though online is mentioned on the document. Please contact us at scarboroughzerowaste(at)gmail.com for more details.
During trustee Mana Wang’s Spring ECO Fair, SZW has organized a Repair Café 101 raffle & an Upcycling Pillow Workshop that have allowed elementary and high school students to learn how to mend, restore, and repurpose everyday items—keeping them out of landfills and giving them a second life! This activity was made possible, thanks to the support of the city of Toronto.
Our team of volunteers would be glad to facilitate those activities in schools. Please contact us for more details.
