Reducing Waste at events

Why events?

Scarborough zero waste’s mission is to reduce waste. Our group is working with event organizers in Scarborugh to support their waste reduction efforts. When capacity allows, we can connect the organizers with our SZW volunteers. 

As community group or local event organizers, you ofen work with a limited capacity which makes the waste reduction transition difficult. That is why we have created the two following programs:

• the "Mission Accomplished" program : this program helps allow us train your green team of your volunteers in their waste reduction role during your event. 

• The 101 Organizer's Waste reduction program: In this program, you will train your organizer so you don't need us on the long run :-).

The "Mission accomplished" Program

The "Mission Accomplished" Program is a program designed by Scarborough Zero Waste to help community groups leaders to empower and motivate their volunteers to take action and reduce waste. The program is made of videos, flyers, booklets and meetings so the "sustainable team" within the community group feels useful and equipped to support its own team in its transition to sustainability.

The "101 Organizer's Waste Reduction" Program

The "Waste Reduction" Program has been designed by Scarborough Zero Waste to help community group reduce the waste they produce at various events. The program highlight various events that have put best practices in place and made difference. This program tackles all aspect of an event organization: from the communication to the waste management as well as the culture needed to motive the staff or volunteers as well at the procurement practices...
