The "Mission Accomplished" Program is a program designed by Scarborough Zero Waste to help community groups members to empower and motivate their leadership or colleagues to take action and reduce waste. The program is made of videos, flyers and booklets.
The program is aslo a monthly meeting happening online the first Friday of the month at noon. During those meetings, the "sustainable teams" within the community group are sharing wins and questions about the best next step for their work transitioning to sustainability.
How does the program work?
What will happen AT THE BEGINNING of the process?
The community eco leaders will join the SZW monthly meeting to brainstorm ways they can reduce waste production at a specific event or location.
What will happen DURING the process?
The eco team will be granted the access to the platform (made of videos, flyers, audio files...) and will hopefully feel empowered to reduce waste at their event.
Your group's team will test best waste reduction practices in their environment and will be invited to collect key informations to create a baseline profile of the situation.
What will happen AT THE END of the process?
The team will be invited to report back thanks to a short informal presentation at a SZW monthly meeting. During this meeting, they will identify together the most accurate next steps the community group could put in place to reduce the amount of waste created. The presentation might be integrated in the platform as an exemple to follow.
The sustainable team will report to it own community group leadership and hopefully make a local difference on the long term.
The platform has valuable ressource community members can use to reduce waste in an autonomous way.
Some example are:
“Waste reduction Champions” tricks and pictures.
Interview videos of waste reduction volunteers.
Practical pdf that can be downloaded and printed easily.
