Grab your compass, ready your ship, and hoist the sails because ScallywagAThon is back and braver than ever! This is no ordinary reading challenge. You get your prompts by charting a course through the mysterious dark world you've ended up in, a realm full of magic, monsters, and mayhem, where humans do not exist.
You know you need to get back home, but you don't know where or how to even get there. You will explore the dark realm, with the goal of gathering has much treasure as possible, finding your way back to a world you know.
Each location carries its own story and an unique reading prompt. You can choose how involved and how long you want be at sea with 3 different ways to participate.
Your journey is a month long, through September. The goal is to complete at least 5 reading prompts.

The main goals of the readathon are to read at least 5 books and to collect as much treasure as you can while in this dark world. Each stop has a unique treasure, along with optional story and events to complete.
You can read more than 5 prompts if you are feeling particularly adventurous to collect more treasure.

Even before selecting your prompts, you need to decide how envolved you would like to be. There are TWO main ways to move forward when it comes to collecting treasure.
STORY MODE: Follow the story. Each stop has an event you have to see if you pass in order to collect the treasure. In order to do this, you will roll a d20; what it lands on will decide your fate (a roll guide is included). Some of your treasures will help you roll higher or lower as you collect them. This mode is a very simplified version of DND basically.
BOOK MODE: Forget the story. If it sounds too complicated or you don't want to participate in the Story Mode, you will instead gather the treasure as you complete the prompt.

Because this is a follow along adventure built into a readathon, you get to have a CHARACTER! Creating a character is optional, but adds to the fun. Use the character creation page to help shape their story.

Get your prompts! There are three ways to set sail, so every reader, from casual cabin crew to full-blown book buccaneers, can join the adventure:

Follow the map pathing, traveling from one location to the next like an old school scallywag explorer.
🪙 Chaos Explorer ~5 - unlimited prompts (free for all)
Craft your own route entirely. Want to skip the map and chart your own legend? The sea is yours.
🏴☠️ Fated Destinations ~5 - unlimited prompts (dice controlled)
Leave your fate and destinations completely up to the dice. Roll a d12 three times to learn which prompts are your first 3 stops, then roll d6 to find your side quest. Last, roll d4 for your final stop (with 4 being a reroll).
