Bill Whitacre

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Bill Whitacre, longtime hiking club member and former president (2008-2009). Bill and his wife, Nadine, were longtime residents of Sun City Anthem. During his presidency, Bill led numerous hikes and organized several away trips, including a memorable trip to Arches National Park in Utah in 2008 (one of my first hikes) and a hike along the Appalachian Trail in the Smoky Mountains in 2013. Bill had a keen interest in video poker, and we often enjoyed running into him and Nadine at the casino, sharing pleasant dinners together. We also fondly remember a trip to Laughlin where we attended the Boat Regatta and a cooking show at the Aquarius Casino. Sunny Easwaran

I have known Bill & Nadine Whitacre since they joined the Hiking & Outing Club. I say Nadine and Bill because they were a team and almost inseparable. Bill was always the gentleman and ready to step up to the plate if needed - Nadine was his support system whether Bill was leading hikes, away trips or serving as President of our club. I feel privileged to have known Bill and he will be missed by his many friends. Celeste Bove

I talked with Nadine, the day after her daughter texted me about Bill’s passing, & Nadine gave me the information about Bill.

Also, Nadine is so appreciative for all the texts she has received from so many at this sad time.
