Navneet Bhalla, Executive Director Manavi
Navneet Bhalla currently serves as the Executive Director at Manavi. Manavi is a New Jersey based South Asian non-profit organization dedicated to ending all forms of violence against South Asian survivors. Founded in 1985, Manavi was the very first organization in the United States to address the unmet needs of South Asian women affected by violence.
Prior to joining Manavi, Navneet worked as the New Jersey Policy and Outreach Coordinator for a national non-profit, South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT) engaging in policy advocacy for immigrant rights and social justice for South Asian Americans. Navneet’s role was multi-faceted and she worked closely with various South Asian and other advocacy groups and government agencies to advocate for immigrant rights as well as related policy and social justice issues.
By way of background, Navneet practiced as an attorney in the United Kingdom for a number of years and gained extensive experience in immigration law, human rights law, and employment law. As an attorney in the United Kingdom, Navneet represented approximately three hundred asylum seekers from various countries. Navneet advocated for immigrant rights and women’s rights to address gender-based violence within the context of international human rights law.
Navneet completed her LL.M. with a specialization in International Human Rights Law at American University, Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C. In 2008, Navneet travelled to Sudan, Africa, where she served as a Legal Consultant representing the International Rescue Committee (IRC). Navneet provided legal counsel and policy recommendations to the IRC on a country wide strategy to address the IRC’s objectives in Sudan. Navneet gained invaluable experience and developed strong working relationships with various non
governmental organizations and policy groups.
Navneet has also lived in Tehran, Iran for a number of years. She is fluent in Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Farsi and English.
Johanna Durazzi (she/her) is the LGBTQ outreach advocate at the Center for Family Services SERV program. In this role she facilities the agency wide LGBTQ+ Competency and Inclusivity
Training. Johanna is the chair of the New Jersey Coalition to End Domestic Violence LGBTQ+ Task force, and the vice chair of GLSEN Southern New Jersey. Prior to her role at SERV
Johanna was the outreach specialist at the Ali Forney Center, the nation's largest homeless shelter for LGBTQ+ youth.

Jennifer Kurdyla helps coordinate the Center for Empowerment, a sexual violence program, which is part of the Middlesex County Office of Health Services. She has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with minors in Sociology and education, from Penn State, and a Master’s in Social Work, with a focus on Violence against Women and Children, from Rutgers. Early work experience led her to a case management role with the Office of Health Services, where she has worked for about 12 years. She transitioned to a public health educator role, before having the opportunity to assist the Center for Empowerment in laying the foundation for its prevention programming, sparking her passion for addressing violence and abuse. Since then, she has been facilitating sexual violence prevention education programming throughout Middlesex County and helping to enhance it throughout NJ. She has provided presentations important for the societal change needed to stop the violence, including regarding gender roles, media, and relationships. She helps coordinate the Sexual Violence Prevention Coalition of Middlesex County and is involved in many more community efforts, including initiatives regarding domestic violence and local conferences for youth.
Tamu Lane has worked in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault for 14 years as a Therapist, Director and now a CEO. Throughout her career she also provided many training around Racial Equity. Tamu is committed to education; she has a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology & Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and a PHd candidate for General Psychology. Many years ago, she had to come to terms with her own past and heal so that she could help others. Therefore, she became a published author of her first book entitled, “Finally Free,” which is about her struggles around Domestic Violence, Child Sexual Abuse, Substance Abuse and an Eating Disorders. Tamu is currently focused on helping others as the CEO of TKLANE, LLC which was formed to provide trainings across the world in many areas, as well as to inspire others to fulfill their dreams. Tamu strives to make a difference within the world through her knowledge and compassion for others. Tamu is committed to serving other and making a difference in this world.
