The American Physician Scientists Association (APSA) is a nationwide student-led organization dedicated to addressing the needs of future physician-scientists at all stages of their career. Physician-scientists are physicians who also conduct research in laboratory and/or clinical settings with standalone MD/DO degrees and/or PhD/MS degrees.
APSA currently has over 60 active local chapters across the country, including an already-established graduate local chapter here at Stony Brook ran by the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP).
Therefore, the goal of the undergraduate chapter is to get better outreach to the Stony Brook undergraduate population in promoting the physician-scientist pathway.
