Water Level Indicator and Automatic Motor Pump Controlย using SR Latch
Overview:
The Water Level Indicator and Automatic Motor Pump Control System using SR Latch is designed to monitor and control the water level in a tank automatically. It uses water level probes, BC547 transistors, and an SR latch circuit to detect water levels and control the pump accordingly.
The system ensures efficient water usage, prevents overflow, and protects the motor from dry running.
Key Features:
Automatic ON/OFF control of water pump.
Prevents water overflow.
Protects motor from dry running.
Uses SR latch for stable operation.
Simple, reliable, and low-cost design.
Main Components:
BC547 NPN Transistors โ used for switching.
SR Latch Circuit โ maintains stable ON/OFF state.
Water Level Probes โ detect water levels.
Relay Module โ controls motor switching.
DC Water Pump Motor โ pumps water.
Diodes โ protection and rectification.
Resistors โ current limiting and biasing.
LED Indicators โ show system status.
Power Supply โ provides required voltage.
Working Principle:
This project works based on the conductivity of water. Water level probes are placed at different heights inside the tank.
When the water level is low, the lower probe activates the SET input of the SR latch through a BC547 transistor. This sets the latch output HIGH, turning ON the relay and starting the motor pump.
As the water level rises and reaches the full-level probe, it activates the RESET input of the SR latch using another transistor. This resets the latch output to LOW, turning OFF the relay and stopping the motor.
The SR latch ensures stable operation and prevents frequent switching of the motor.
Applications:
Household overhead water tank automation
Prevention of water overflow
Apartment and hostel water systems
Underground tank monitoring
Industrial water storage management
Agricultural irrigation systems
Motor protection systems
Energy and water saving systems
