Smart Temperature & Flame Detection Safety System Using OP-Amp
Overview:
The Smart Temperature & Flame Detection Safety System is a safety-based electronic project designed to detect high temperature and flame conditions. The system uses sensors along with an OP-Amp (Operational Amplifier) to process signals and PNP & NPN transistors for switching operations.
When abnormal temperature or flame is detected, the system activates an alert such as a buzzer or LED. This design ensures fast response and reliable operation for safety purposes in homes and laboratories.
Key Features:
Detects high temperature and flame.
Fast response using OP-Amp comparator circuit.
Adjustable sensitivity using variable resistor.
Provides alert through buzzer/LED.
Low-cost and easy to implement.
PNP & NPN transistors for efficient switching.
Main Components:
Temperature Sensor (LM35 / Thermistor) – measures temperature.
Flame Sensor / IR Sensor – detects fire or flame.
OP-Amp (e.g., LM358) – compares sensor signals with reference voltage.
Variable Resistor (Potentiometer) – sets threshold level.
Buzzer / LED – provides alert indication.
Resistors & Capacitors – for circuit stability.
PNP & NPN Transistors – used for switching and driving output devices.
Power Supply – provides required voltage.
Working Principle:
The temperature sensor and flame sensor continuously monitor environmental conditions. Their outputs are given to the OP-Amp, which acts as a comparator.
A reference voltage is set using a variable resistor. When the sensor output exceeds this threshold, the OP-Amp output becomes HIGH.
This signal is then passed to NPN and PNP transistors, which act as switches to drive the buzzer or LED. The transistors ensure proper current amplification and reliable switching.
When the condition returns to normal, the output becomes LOW and the system turns OFF automatically.
Applications:
Fire safety systems in homes and buildings.
Industrial hazard detection systems.
Laboratory safety monitoring.
Early warning systems for fire accidents
