This is the current landing page for Chironomy, a software I'm developing that facilitates the intuitive creation and performance of electronic music through the use of a video game controller. Chironomy is, at the current moment, very much a work in progress. Until Chironomy works well enough to be public, this landing page will have links to do the following:
join an email list that will be used to distribute updates about Chironomy as I'm able to make them
download a prototype of Chironomy
request access to the private GitHub repository I'm working out of
I will also upload documentation here: any information that makes Chironomy easier to start using, as well as audio or video recordings of any events or performances I create that involve this software.
If you've used Chironomy to create something cool, you're working on developing a similar sort of program, or you'd simply like to get in touch, my email is sgo@oberlin.edu. Additionally, if you'd like to learn more about my other work, please feel free to peruse this website or check out my LinkTree.
Click the above button to download a zip of Chironomy via Google Drive. This particular version is built for Windows, but I will add in a Mac version very soon.
PLEASE NOTE: While it is possible to reliably create sound with this prototype, presets DO NOT WORK YET. They behave unpredictably, and I've not really had much of a chance to figure out exactly how they malfunction. For now, it's probably best to avoid use of the shoulder buttons and the start/back buttons until I can fix the preset system. These buttons traverse presets for either side of the software. Everything else works fine (e.g. You can add samples to every button, change modes of the buttons and joysticks, and change parameters manually).
If you do end up giving Chironomy a try in its current state, please let me know what you think! I'd love to hear about your experience, or if you have any ideas that might make your experience of it smoother in any way. Contact me at sgo@oberlin.edu.
If you're familiar with Max and you want to get a copy of Chironomy that you can modify and mess around with, feel free to check out the repository linked above. You're welcome to do whatever you want with my software, so long as you provide attribution and are using it for non-commercial purposes as per the Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial 4.0 International License.
