To support Kyoto METRO which is temporarily closed due to the coronavirus pandemic and protect its culture, DJ/Producer SINKICHI (Churashima Navigator) from Kyoto called on DJs and artists to create a compilation album together as donation for Kyoto METRO. 59 DJs and artists who have shown their support joined, and the compilation album “Save the Metro Compilations” is now released on Bandcamp.
100% of the album proceeds will be donated to Kyoto METRO. Joined artists will be offered to perform on a music streaming program and will be interviewed. These successive actions aim to continue the active music scene and raise a question about how club culture has been treated lightly.
Kyoto METRO has produced its many representative artists during the 30 years of history; Kyoto JazzMassive Shuya Okino, LOFTSOUL Masahiko Uchikawa, Dego from 2000Black.
Ken’ichi Itoi, SOFT, Ken-En, MDM Columbia, Living Ded, KND, DAICHI, Akirasunrise, CDHATA, Baiyon are among the first ones to show the support, and the album also includes excellent music by young artists who hold parties regularly at Kyoto METRO.
This is an exclusive album with 59 music that go beyond generations and genres.

All proceeds from this album will be donated to Kyoto Club Metro which is struggling due to the impact of Covid-19.
As you all already know, nightclubs and live houses in Kyoto are at risk of disappearing because of coronavirus.
CLUB METRO celebrates 30th anniversary in April 2020. It has been providing us not only music but also many other contents for a long time. METRO has produced numbers of artists and is an important place for the art culture in Kyoto.
I don’t want METRO to close down because of the coronavirus crisis! It will be a nightmare. I don’t want to see Kyoto to become a cultural waste ground with no stages for artists! With that determination, I thought about what we could do as an artist and came up with an idea to create a relief compilation album for METRO.
This may be a really small action, but I hope that donating all the proceeds to METRO will be a little bit of a help for them. I truly appreciate so many artists who support the idea, provided their wonderful music and most importantly, who love METRO.

A beautiful sakura season in April 1990, 30 years ago from now, Club Metro Kyoto opened inside Marutamachi station when the Keihan train line was extended to Demachiyanagi.
From its opening, not only Club Metro has been a venue for famous artists and music, but also has been discovering interesting art expressions and excellent unknown artists from Kyoto and all over Japan, and putting a spotlight on them. Metro is still digging a tunnel that’s in the far side of the stage.
Club Metro aims to be a place where everyone can equally have great time together through art, share the enjoyment, and spend a happy life.
Now, Metro is put in the situation that we’ve never experienced ever before and is in the crisis of closing down as the events have been and are continuously cancelled.
At such time, our artist friends stood up and are going to make a compilation album to help Club Metro. This heartwarming offer cheered up our depressed feelings, and with courage, Metro staff and I are determined to overcome this crisis no matter what.
I am truly grateful for everyone who will take part with us.
Club Metro, Nick Yamamoto
