On September 22, 2026 the CMS Board voted on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) related to Madison Central Park and the process of adding the property to the existing Joint Use Agreement between CMS and Mecklenburg County.
We have retained an attorney to help develop legal protections for Madison Central Park and work through the community safeguards we have requested from CMS. Our attorney has now formally contacted CMS and will be working with us as the language is developed.
Please click here to read the full email correspondence with CMS, including our specific requests and CMS’ response.
Our focus remains on making sure meaningful, durable protections are put in place and that the community has a voice in future decisions affecting the park. We will keep everyone updated as this moves forward.
[Receive emails FROM Save Madison Park]
Use this form if you want Save Madison Park to keep you updated as we work through the legal process and long-term protections for Madison Central Park. If you are receiving emails from savemadisonpark@gmail.com, you likely have already signed up.
[Request a yard sign from Save Madison Park]
Already have a Save Madison Central Park sign? Please keep it out! As a reminder, signs should be placed at least 11 feet back from the road. Still need one? We have plenty available. Please fill out the above form and consider a $6 donation through our GoFundMe to help cover costs. We’ll continue delivering signs throughout the neighborhood over the next few weeks.
[Share your contact information WITH CMS and Mecklenburg County]
Use this form if you want CMS and the County to have a direct way to communicate with you about Madison Central Park. You can also indicate whether you would like those communications to include Pinewood Elementary.
This is separate from the Save Madison Park email list. Being on our email list does not mean CMS or the County has your contact information.
Madison Park for Pinewood is a new, community-led group focused specifically on building an ongoing partnership between Pinewood Elementary and the Madison Park neighborhood.
This is separate from Save Madison Park and is not a neighborhood association. Its focus will be solely on the relationship between Pinewood Elementary and our community.
Save Madison Park will bring interested neighbors together and facilitate the first meeting. From there, Madison Park for Pinewood will operate separately from Save Madison Park, with its own structure, leadership, and communication channels. Pinewood Elementary-related updates, questions, and opportunities will come through Madison Park for Pinewood’s own channels.
[Join the active group of Madison Park for Pinewood]
Use this form if you want to be part of the initial group of neighbors helping build the ongoing partnership between Madison Park and Pinewood Elementary. This is not for one-off volunteer opportunities. This is an active group focused specifically on the Pinewood-neighborhood partnership, not another email list or a neighborhood association.
As Madison Park for Pinewood gets established, we’d like neighbors who already receive Save Madison Park emails to continue receiving occasional Pinewood Elementary news, volunteer opportunities, and community partnership updates without having to sign up for another email list. Pinewood Elementary-related communications will come through the new group’s own channels rather than Save Madison Park.
This does not give CMS, Mecklenburg County, Pinewood Elementary, or any other outside organization access to your contact information. It only applies to communications from the new Madison Park for Pinewood community group.
If you do not want your contact information included on the Madison Park for Pinewood communication list, please [opt out here].
