Who is Develop Cashiers Responsibly (DCR) ?
We are a group of full time and part time Cashiers residents that organically came together in 2020 in response to an overly dense development proposed on 50 acres at the Cashiers Crossroads that was not in character with the town of Cashiers. DCR has remained very active monitoring ongoing development trends in the Cashiers area to help ensure a broad community voice is heard and that the recommendations of the Urban Land Institute and Small Area Plan are implemented.

Our focus is to:
Raise community awareness and engagement
Encourage collaboration between developers and citizens of Cashiers
Establish constructive and effective communication with our CPC leadership and county officials for the benefit of the entire community
Preserve the heritage, character and history of Cashiers
Conserve our unique natural resources, respecting the ecology and topography of Cashiers
Support the Chattooga Conservancy’s maintenance of all the critical headwaters here in Cashiers
Provide guidance and information on how citizens can get involved regarding development activity and in helping shape the future of Cashiers
Advocate for responsible development and honor the expert recommendations of the ULI report
brought to through thousands of volunteer hours
