ASCA - Deliver: Classroom Guidance
The student population at NCSSM is made up of high achieving STEM oriented STEM students from across the state. Many of our students were the top of their class at their home schools, and struggle with the transition to the highly rigorous and competitive environment at Science and Math. Based on feedback from the Dean of Counseling, I developed a classroom guidance lesson on understanding and managing perfectionistic tendencies. The lesson's PowerPoint is linked below, followed by a few quotes from student feedback surveys.
"Wow. I definitely didn't think there was anything wrong with the perfectionism I had. I thought "well this is how I am the way I am, this is why I am successful" I've always thought a certain amount of worry is normal. That you just were supposed to handle it. I think after this I realized maybe I need to structure the mindset."
"Talking about the different types of perfectionism and getting tips for productivity was also really helpful."
"I think it was perfect (hehehe)"
