Essay Description:

This essay is a narrative essay where I wrote about my experience going to Beyonce's Cowboy Carter concert this summer and how it made me reflect on my life as a young girl who grew up with grandparents with southern roots, a mother who grew up in the city, moving from different areas and schools, and how those life aspects shaped me into who I am today as a person, and why I felt such a deep connection to Beyonce's album as it relates to her southern roots and how black music and history influenced her as a whole.

Student Learning Outcome

SLO#1 - Analyze and evaluate the ways diverse rhetorics function to shape audiences' understanding

One of the assignments we did that helped me this student learning outcome was the background assignment where we defined ethos, pathos, and logos and how that can affect an essay and audience when reading or hearing something from someone. This assignment helped me understand that the different ways to express yourself in an essay is based on one of these 3 aspects, because it's the base of the essay. I've always known about the 3 aspects, but more in a legal aspect in terms of how to persuade a jury or a group of people to make a decision on something. I applied this rhetoric in my narrative essay using ethos to show my audience that I know how to show use my application of diverse ideas and help the audience understand what has happened.
