Reflective Cover Letter 

Hello everyone and welcome to my portfolio! This portfolio will showcase my writing skills in this case, and how it has progressed since the beginning of the semester. I have always been a good writer and researcher, but this class has helped me realize that there are still some things in writing that I still need to improve on. This course has helped me a lot with how I create outlines, form opinions based on a topic, and how to use different research skills to persuade an audience. I am usually a persuasive, analytical writer, but this class has helped me reach outside the box of writing, and push me beyond my limits of writing. During class, we have done so many writing activities to help us with our writing, and how we can improve our skills. The way that my work as aligned with the Student Learning Objectives is that I have learned to analyze and evaluate the different varities of writing to help shape an audience's understanding instead of viewing it to shape my own understanding, I have learned how to apply rhetoric principles for certain audiences, researching and contributing to specific areas using the right strategies. For example, with the Professional Writing Assignment, using a report style to write and essay was new for me, but helped me research ways to use my abilities for the report and apply it to my topic, I have adapted conventions for diverse audiences by using some topics that some audience members may not have heard about, for example, with my gentrification essay, most people have heard of gentrification, but not in Inglewood. Lastly, I composed a different variety of texts through writing rough drafts, getting feedback from my instructor and peers, and applying it to my final draft. This class has helped me in a mirade of ways to improve my writing skills not just for school, but for my everyday life.
