My name is Savannah Clancy, I grew up in Los Altos, Ca, on the original and unceded land of the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe. Growing up I would often play in the park next to my house where a small stream ran through. There I would pretend I was deep in the forest far away from society. I loved timeless days spent roaming barefoot in whatever wilderness I could find.
I went to the Waldorf School of the Peninsula from first through twelfth grade. There I continued to learn, ask questions and to see with open yet thorough eyes. My teacher brought us on all kinds of adventures: hiking, backpacking, skiing.
My favorite place to go on these explorations was just up the hill from our school to the preserve nearby. There we would climb in the arms of Grandmother Oak, or, The Magic Tree, a great big oak who's branches, thick and sturdy, reached all the way down allowing us to climb and play. When you click on the "Earth Doula" tab, you will see a picture of her.
As I grew I continued to develop my relationship with the earth. I began to write songs in seventh grade and continued to develop this skill as I grew. I found that I could only write when I was connected with Mother Earth, and began to realize that songwriting was a love language between me and her.
My family is vital and deeply grounding part of my life. They have taught me what it means to be alive and love, and for them I give all my gratitude.
