Named after his wife, Margaret built in 1879 by the second White Rajah, Charles Brooke, this fortress was both a gesture of love and a symbol of power, beneath its romantic name lies a deeper legacy a stronghold against pirates, a prison of shadows, and a sentry post whose cannons once faced the open river. Standing proudly on the banks of the Sarawak River, Fort Margherita is not just a fortress it's a monument carved into time. With its whitewashed towers and watchful battlements, it rises like a ghost from the past, guarding the heart of Kuching as it once did over a century ago

This centuries-old Bidayuh longhouse isn’t just a place, it’s a home filled with laughter, smoky kitchens, and stories passed down by the fire. You’ll walk on bamboo floors, sip homemade rice wine, and feel what it means to belong  even just for a little while.
