We are the first branch of the Florida State Chapter of the American Youth Association. Located in Sarasota Fl. We are taking steps to create a more educated electorate. Providing a clear framework for expanded knowledge of US Government and Civics.
By creating clubs and organizing at a county level, and expanding across the state - we can create a community of individuals that help give back. Not only that, but in time we will create a state assembly where we will participate in state competitions from debate, journalism, photography, and fashion design, among other competitions. This creates an engaged community, that shares a passion for civic leadership.

On October 6th, 2020 youth leaders in Sarasota County took the first step into bringing forth and discussing issues that students and community members face and spoke before the school board. This meeting features a variety of topics and groups of people. WE are proud to have been able to display the clear difference in maturity between S.Y.A. members, and members of a loud 'adult' run group.
Members of S.Y.A. participated in, alongside other community organizations, in a peaceful student led counter demonstration outside of Riverview High School following a demonstration of students, dawning political apparel, who were using racial slurs to refer to their peers. The attendees and educators of Riverview, students and parents in the community, and members of S.Y.A. recognized this is not what Riverview stands for. This counter demonstration was to show that Riverview does not side with racists and their bigoted behavior. Public demonstration is one of the most effective forms of turning out a message, and is guaranteed by this nation's very constitution. No citizen should fear attending a protest, whether they agree or disagree with it's message or not, and whether they're there to counter protest or not. Yet for some reason Sarasota County sits idly and allows for despicable members of the community, neo-fascists who belong to the organization known as Proud Boys, to show up outside of RHS's campus for a "peaceful protest" when their goals and core beliefs are to intimidate, and oppress others. These are some of the issues evident in the county.
