I have worked in both UK and international contexts and my specialisms include:
Conducting and writing literature reviews and syntheses;
Using research approaches to develop teachers’ and leaders’ practice, be it inquiring into aspects of their work or using research approaches as school improvement tools, with a particular focus on using lesson study;
Making research evidence accessible to teachers, and supporting teachers and leaders to publish their findings in accessible formats for other schools as knowledge mobilisation;
Impact evaluation of school-based projects, with a focus on mixed methods and participatory methodologies;
Knowledge and understanding of the following fields of literature: policy borrowing, cultural contexts, leadership of change and implementation science.
Examples of recent work:
Co-leading a primary assessment research project in partnership with CFEY
Designing and leading a research project to narrow the gap for Pupil Premium pupils in Bath and North East Somerset, including a developmental impact evaluation, action learning sets and a series of literature reviews
Producing a comparative study of the leadership development approaches of five high-performing nations for the Centre for Education Leadership at UCL Institute of Education
Designing a set of research-driven tools and resources for teachers hoping to develop thinking skills in their pupils through the Assessment Companion for Thinking Skills project, an Erasmus+ funded project with UK, Lavtia and Finland
