Strand One 24/25 applications

Staff and students across the university (undergraduate, master’s and PhD) can apply to be matched into teams who will address a particular research question around mutual ideas. Teams will be led by an academic or professional services staff member who will be responsible for submitting the team application and delivering any research outputs.

From May til November 2025 , teams will be expected to produce a piece of work (e.g. publication, paper, report, short film etc.) which will become available on the Students as Researchers site and externally.

Undergraduate, Masters and Doctoral students will be paid an hourly rate (Rate B - £14.88 and Rate C - £15.61) and expected to work around 40 hours in total on their project (subject to change). These rates are not inclusive of pension or holiday pay as these are calculated based on hours worked.

Please note that students in final year of undergraduate study will only be able to take part in projects until 20th June 2025 as this is the final date of registration as a student at the university.
