STUDENTS AS RESEARCHERS
What is ‘Students as Researchers’?
The Students as Researchers Programme seeks to put into practice the Making a Difference: Research and Knowledge Exchange Strategy 2022-2029 principle which is ‘students are researchers’. This will bring together students across the pipeline (undergraduate, master’s and doctoral) and support them in enhancing their skills, networking, and employability. The exposure and practical experience of being part of research projects will create awareness of the possibilities of research.
As part of a wider vision, this Vertically Integrated Project (VIP) will enable the growth of a collaborative research environment which seeks to bring together the school research community.
Why should students apply?
Undergraduate and master’s students will have the opportunity to gain paid research experience working on unique projects alongside fellow students across the disciplines as well as academic and professional services staff.
Why should doctoral researchers apply?
Doctoral researchers will take on paid roles as Research Officers and contribute to the development of research projects, with the possibility of teaching and mentoring students. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in research outputs (e.g. publication).
Why should academic/professional services colleagues apply?
Academic and professional services colleagues will be able to support students in developing and enhancing their research skills and employability. Colleagues will take on a leadership role in guiding students and ensuring that any project outputs (e.g. publications, film etc) are realistic and deliverable.
