San Roque National High School

The Front Office strand is a technical-vocational specialization in Home Economics that concentrates on hotel and front office operations. The strand trains students in skills relating to welcoming guests, booking reservations, and offering customer service which are vital for working in hotels, resorts, and other activities in the hospitality sector.

Front Office Services tells its story with FBO becoming an area under the same TVL Home Economics strand. The official curriculum for Front Office Services was recorded in DepEds Front Office Services Curriculum Guide. This guide is part of the Junior High School Technical Livelihood Education and Senior High School Technical-Vocational-Livelihood Track structure.

The guide says that schools can offer specializations from the four TVL strands long as the minimum number of hours for each specialization is met. It also says that curriculum maps can be changed depending on the specializations a particular school decides to offer.

Front Office Services was created to meet the needs of the hospitality industry for front-desk and guest-service roles. It works alongside FBO, which focuses on kitchen and food service, all within the larger Home Economics group. While FBO teaches students how to serve guests food and drinks Front Office teaches them about guest reception, reservations and other administrative tasks in the hospitality field. People who finish this track have often found jobs in hospitality management.

They can become Front Office Managers, Hotel Managers or similar roles. Some start working after high school while others continue their studies, in hotel and restaurant management at the college level.
