ACTIVITIES IN HUMSS
OUTREACH PROGRAMS
The HUMSS strand conducted an outreach program for persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) to promote hope, dignity, and personal growth. This initiative focused on reminding them that they are still valued members of society who deserve support and opportunities for change. This program aimed to instill empathy among HUMSS students while helping uplift the morale of prisoners. It emphasizes the strand’s commitment to justice, humanity, and social responsibility, core values of Humanities and Social Sciences.
ARTS AND CULTURE
The HUMSS strand values arts and culture as a way to express creativity, preserve heritage, and promote social awareness. Through activities like art exhibits, spoken word poetry, theater, music, and cultural presentations, HUMSS students showcase their talents while deepening their understanding of society and identity.
Exploring a gallery isn't just about looking at art; it's about connecting with human stories. They use there skills to go beyond the surface and understand how each piece reflects history, culture, and society. It's a field trip that brings our lessons to life, showing us that our studies are all around us.
SPEECHES AND DEBATES
Speeches and debates in the HUMSS strand help students develop confidence, critical thinking, and strong communication skills. These activities include public speaking events, classroom debates, and even thesis defenses, where learners present their research, defend their arguments, and engage in meaningful discussions. Through these, HUMSS students sharpen skills that are essential for future leaders, writers, teachers, and lawyers.
