Sanger High FCCLA is always welcoming to new members and we love getting to grow our chapter. We are always finding new ways to engage more members and get students excited about everything the organization has to offer. Membership activities are listed below:
Membership Recruitment Week
At the beginning of every year during Membership Recruitment Week our chapter works to retain and boost membership using hashtags and themed days. Every year the State sends out the information so that every member can participate via social media.
Ice cream party
At the beginning of every year, all of our members gather for an ice cream party at one of our meetings. This activity encourages students to attend meetings and get involved in the Sanger High FCCLA Chapter. This also is a great way to affiliate members.
Dallas Mavericks Game
One benefit of joining the Sanger High FCCLA Chapter is the annual trip to Dallas for the Mavericks' Texas FCCLA/TAFE Day, where all of our members are invited to speak with executives working directly with the Mavericks in various leadership positions to further explore different career paths, followed up by watching the big evening game.
State Fair of Texas
This school year on October 11th, Texas FCCLA was invited to join in the State Fair's Agricultural Awareness Day, where students had the opportunity to support local communities by donating to the canned food drive, participate in the educational scavenger hunt across the fair grounds, and take part in the many other activities offered at the fair.
Membership Retention & Recognition
The Sanger High FCCLA chapter values its members and wants to ensure that members recieve the recognition that they deserve and keep members involved with everything that we accomplish. The chapter has an annual end-of-year banquet where members are recognized for their participation throughout the year.
Graduation Cords
Sanger High FCCLA Graduation Cords are given to active graduating seniors in FCCLA. These cords are a great motivation for students to participate in the organization throughout the years.
Letter Jackets for State Qualifiers
Every Sanger High FCCLA member who is a State Qualifier earns the ability to obtain a School Letter Jacket because of their accomplishment. The jacket is a significant motivation for members to work hard on their events and advance to State.
Scholarship Opportunities
Within National FCCLA, over $13,500,000 in scholarships are awarded to members annually. These can be awarded through application or through several different STAR event accomplishments. Some of these include the Johnson and Wales Scholarship, FCCLA Memorial Scholarship, and the Zwilling Culinary Arts Scholarship. Along with this, several scholarship opportunities are offered through Sanger ISD, and being an FCCLA member may boost student consideration.
To be a member of Sanger High FCCLA, you must pay a $25 membership fee at the beginning of the school year ($7 local, $9 national, $9 state dues) by October 25th. Possible members need to contact Mrs. Escobedo, Mrs. Langley, or Mrs. Reid. Members must be enrolled or have previously been enrolled in a Family and Consumer Science course.
FCCLA is an amazing organization that offers many opportunities for members. Throughout the year, students get to go on fun field trips such as attending a Fall Leadership workshop where everyone gets to make new friends and participate in games. Chapters also have the opportunity to attend the State Fair of Texas, a Mavericks basketball game, and compete in the Denton County Youth Fair. Not only can members do those, but they also get to compete in FCCLA through STAR Events and taking FCSA's.
