Charles Turner was born on 11th April 1908 and started work at Stanlow on 20th December 1926, probably making him a founder member of Stanlow as well as the Golf Section.

Charles had risen to become the Manager of Office Services when he retired on 31st December 1964.

The Turner Trophy was first played for in 1968 as a Bogey Competition.
