Welcome to the Stanlow and Thornton Golf Society Website

              The Stanlow and Thornton Golf Society began in 1945 as the Shell Stanlow Golf Section and in 2025                 we celebrate our 81st year  

  At the outset, the section was made up, mostly, of Managers of the Shell Refinery Complex at Stanlow,           Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. 

Over the ensuing years the Section has welcomed members from all positions within the Refinery and also from Thornton Research Centre and in the later years from outside these two areas. 

The Society's membership compete for ten competitions a year plus a Singles KO, Doubles KO and Merit Trophy's

The Section has 58 playing Members.
