This page is for those who are interested in participating in a variety of social justice actions. Mathematicians are as much a part of the human eco system as anyone else. There are values each of us hold dear, and hope to emulate in our daily lives. In this page, I shall put up opportunities for participating in social justice movements that particularly speak to me.

Following the return of the Taliban in 2021, the education of girls and women have been greatly restricted in Afghanistan. A number of grassroots organisations have been trying to provide informal virtual platforms for many children and young adults to keep up their learning. Some of the possible ways that the general public could help includes volunteering online via these platforms to teach girls languages like English, French, German etc., as well as STEM subjects.
Here are some of the organisations (check their websites for current openings):
Victory Afghanistan - Free online English language classes taught by volunteers from around the world, with over 1,000 students enrolled.
Afghan Women Support (AWS) - A platform sharing the voices, stories and talents of women in Afghanistan, offering classes in areas like robotics, tailoring, and more.
Alliance for International Women’s Rights (AIWR) - Founded in 2005, AIWR supports women leaders and future women leaders, currently focused on Afghanistan, through long-distance empowerment programs. Note: this is distinct from "Alliance for the Education of Women in Afghanistan (AEWA)".
Voices Unveiled - A 501(c)(3) nonprofit empowering Afghan women with free online education, mental health support, leadership development and community building.
Wild Flower - Offers language courses, provides internet access, and forms international connections between Afghan girls and those outside the country. See this news article for more info.
Afghan Education Student Outreach Project (AESOP) - Provides English classes and one-on-one mentoring for Afghan girls and young women online.
Generation of Change (GOC) - Committed to empowering girls and women in Afghanistan, fostering gender equality, and enabling their access to quality education.
Herat Online School - Founded by Angela Ghayour, with over 400 volunteer teachers offering 84+ subjects, now run under the umbrella of Afghanistan Education Action (a UK-registered charity).
