Sandip was a Michelin star unto himself. He loved trying new recipes, particularly when we gathered for the holidays. However, the idea of a holiday without Sandip hits hard since he had perfected his vegetarian Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas supper menus in the past few years. He never had a chance to publish that cookbook that would showcase his full repertoire, so I did the next best thing by publishing what he had written down to date.
If you're a chef yourself and would like to receive Sandip's Holiday Cookbook with his recipes (and some bonus items for year-round culinary delights), fill out the form bit.ly/SandipsHolidayCookbook and I'll happily ship it to you - standing offer, never too late! "After my wedding, we went to a friend's house. Someone casually mentioned craving a quesadilla. Sandip immediately got to work, making at least 20 quesadillas." - College friend
"Sandip let me know that I'd been putting dressing on salads wrong my ENTIRE life and apparently I needed to serve the base FIRST (before adding dressing) in order to ensure suitable dressing distribution. He also helped me learn how to make impossible burger meatballs, and OF COURSE, enchiladas." - Cousin
"Sandip would always make us quesadillas at his apartment, no matter the time of night!" - College friend
"I remember deep discussions around gravy, what was in and out of scope for Thanksgiving and the order of operations to prepare the entire meal. He and your parents welcomed my wife and I into their home for a lunch shortly after Sandip and I became office mates. One of the best meals I’ve ever had, and so many laughs along the way. Love him." - Colleague and dear friend
"His eggplant parmesan was the BEST." <-- many iterations of this sentiment from multiple friends and family members
"I ate work lunch with him pretty often for years. We would eat at Si Lom more often than not, as it had great vegetarian dishes he loved, and he would get his food so spicy(it was a special spice level for him the waiters knew. It wasn't even on the menu!) that he would be sweaty as we walked back to the office to jump into our next meeting. I'll always remember and cherish those lunch chats over great food, and listening to the many things he was passionate about. ... All of our thoughts are with you and your family now, and through the holiday seasons to come." - Colleague and friend
"While I didn’t get to enjoy Sandip’s culinary expertise, I did get the benefit of his restaurant recommendations. When I met Sandip in 2012, I had never even tried Thai food. Safe to say I was a picky eater — but early on he invited me to the only Thai food restaurant walking distance from the Compass office and I quickly learned that (1) he could handle far more spice than me and (2) he KNEW good food! From there he also introduced me that Trudy’s veggie flaquities were superior and I pretty much ordered whatever he recommended from there on out." - Colleague and friend
