There has been a long standing debate when Padam Vibhushan Narayan Murthy said that 70 hour work week is required in the force. Everyone has right for their own interpretation, how I read it is "70 Hours work week is required for Nation Building". It is upto you to define what is "work for Nation".
Is it only professional work where you are getting paid and paying taxes for nation building yes. But it is also work on skilling up yourself so that in future you can build more amazing things. It is also spending time with your children and teaching them and tutoring them because they are going to be the ones in future building the nation. It is also debating with your friends on Chai or Coffee or Drinks, how to do things better how to make society better, criticise government on policy. Participate in NGO work.
For me anything you are doing professionally or personally, just think how can it impact nation building positively. Said that one should definitely spend some time chilling but this "chilling" shouldn't be a majority part of your week.
Another point of view is that, every nation has gone through the rigour, all developed nations have worked hard to be in a place they are right now. Difference is at that time there was no social media to propagate that across continents. Now developed nation are utilising the fruit of what there forefathers has done, now they are in a better place to debate about work-life balance etc (again here work is professional work timings). These messages are being shared widely through social media. Our young folks should definitely understand the need of work life balance but they should also be aware that someone has to do the hard rigour tireless work to build a nation upto that level.
Again, you can read my thoughs but it is upto individual interpretations how you take it.
