All your hard work is done, and the final stage is to share your work and upload your video file. There are many different platforms for sharing your video, like MS Stream, but the most popular and easiest method is to use YouTube.
YouTube is one of the most popular video sharing platforms in the world. We love YouTube for a number of reasons including:
The ease of uploading videos
The auto-captioning feature for accessibility
The variety of privacy options
Your viewers are likely already familiar with it
If you do not stay organized, files can sometimes get lost. In most cases, files can be found in the Downloads folder of your computer or, you may have created a project folder and placed your .mp4 in that same folder. Knowing where your file is located is step one to uploading and sharing your work.
Most people already have Gmail accounts but if you do not have one, you can create an account for free. A Gmail account allows users to use many different Google products like Gmail, Google Drive and YouTube.
Go to https://www.youtube.com.
Click on SIGN IN at the top right corner of the page.
Sign in using your Gmail account and password.
Open YouTube and sign in with your Gmail account.
Near the top right corner click on the icon that resembles a video camera with a plus sign.
From the drop-down menu choose Upload video.
You can either drag and drop a file for uploading or you can click on the blue Select Files button. Navigate to where you have your video file, and open your document.
While the video is uploading, you can enter a video title and description. YouTube also has a channel specifically for children so, in most cases, you can select No when asked if your video was made for kids, then click Next to go to Step 2.
YouTube will automatically check your video for copyright issues. If no issues are found you can proceed to the final step, which is setting the permissions. Click Next to continue.
To make your video visible to others you have three options:
Public
This makes your video public searchable and viewable to anyone on youTube.
Unlisted
Your video will not list publicly, but anyone with the video link can still view the video.
Private
This allows only you to view the video when you are signed in to your account.
For most school projects, we suggest using the Unlisted option for visibility so only the people with the video link can watch your video. Select Unlisted and click Save.
Once your work is saved, YouTube will publish your video to the internet and provide a video link that usually starts with https://youtu.be/xxxxxxxxxxxx. Copy this link and paste the video link wherever you need to share it.
You may not want to use YouTube to upload your video. Here are some alternatives you can consider.
