Important Health & Safety Notes
People with sound sensitivity, epilepsy, or pacemakers should consult a professional before attending.
Sound healing can be deeply therapeutic, but please let your sound healer know of your PTSD and anything that would aggravate it. If you are suffering from PTSD, please check with your health care provider.
Pregnant individuals should also check with a provider, as deep vibrations can be intense; however, vibrations can be adjusted.
Please discuss any of these concerns when booking an appointment, so we can adjust accordingly.
For Your Session
Here are some tips to prepare for your session, before, during and after. Please discuss preferences and comfort level with your sound healer. We aim to make your sound experience relaxing, healing and safe.
Before the Session
1. What to Prepare
·Yoga mat, blankets, and pillows: Comfort is key, as you’ll often be lying down for an extended time. Set up an area in your home, preferably on a floor, with a yoga mat and several blankets for padding. You may want a blanket to cover yourself as well. Have pillows or bolsters for your head and knees.
·Water bottle: Hydration helps with energy flow and integration.
·Eye mask or small towel (optional): Helps block light and deepen relaxation. Depending on your consultation, this may be removed to apply tuning forks to your face and/or head for part of your session.
·Think of an intention ~ your sound healer may ask you to set an intention or area of focus for your session.
2. What to Wear
·Loose, comfortable clothing. Avoid restrictive or noisy clothes (like rustling fabrics) or clothes with metal/hard plastic in them (zippers, buttons, belts, etc.). Avoid wearing watches or jewelry in session.
3. Arrival Time
·Arrive 10–15 minutes early to settle in, pick your spot, set up your props, and relax.
·One-on-one appointments include time to discuss goals, outcomes, and intentions. This will guide the experience and focus on instruments and sound combinations to be used during your session.
During the Session
1. What to Expect
·Instruments like singing bowls, gongs, chimes, tuning forks, or drums will be played.
·You’ll typically lie still with eyes closed, in a quiet meditative state.
·If you are comfortable, bowls and tuning forks may be placed on your body to maximize vibration and energy flow.
·The session may last from 60 to 120 minutes.
·You might feel physical sensations, emotions, or visuals—or just deep relaxation.
·You may drift off. Depending on your goals, your facilitator may gently rouse you unless you prefer to rest. Please let your facilitator know.
2. How to Participate
·No special skills are needed—just relax, be open, and communicate.
·Let your sound healer know if something doesn't feel right. You can shift positions if you become uncomfortable with any sounds or sensations.
After the Session
1.Integration
·You may feel peaceful, emotional, or energized—everyone’s response is different.
·Take some quiet time after; avoid rushing back to a busy schedule.
·Journaling, grounding (like walking barefoot), or drinking tea can help.
2.Hydration
·Sound healing can release stuck energy, so drinking water helps flush out toxins.
3.Communication
·Let your facilitator know how you felt, what you enjoyed, and things you would change in your next appointment.
Remember: Each session is different with unique experiences and results. Enjoy the variety!
