Hi! I’m Samuel, a postdoctoral researcher in Education at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Although my background is in biology, my interest in education led me to pursue a Master’s in Teacher Training and later a PhD in Education.
My research focuses on how teacher discourse shapes student motivation, participation, and learning. I’m especially interested in how we can use LLMs to analyse classroom audio and open-ended data in scalable, meaningful ways. I’ve also co-developed an app called MoMe (web, Android and iOS) that gives teachers feedback on the messages they use during lessons.
Right now, I’m working on different projects to explore how to make classroom communication more effective, inclusive and inquiry-driven, especially for students from underrepresented backgrounds.
