Engineering Intern, May 2025 – Aug 2025
- Performed detailed make/buy trade study on the existing heat exchanger variants to down-select the ideal component
- Developed conjugate heat transfer models for custom cryogenic liquid helium heat exchangers
- Used custom heat transfer models to down-select HX type and drive dimensions
- Created detailed CAD models of HX to send to manufacturers
- Performed in-depth research on oil-free pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and vacuum system components and worked with application engineers and vendors to obtain quotes and lead times
- Developed detailed full-system CAD models with mass and size estimates to share with key stakeholders
Mechanical Engineering Intern, May 2024 – Aug 2024
• Designed and prototyped package storage solution for the Origin II robot using custom sheet metal, CNC, and injection-molding methods working with suppliers. Saved 3X the current shipping cost of existing solution.
• Designed an injection-molded ‘clamshell’ cable lock that utilized a living hinge and snap-fit geometry to eliminate the need of any additional hardware and only one mold.
• Designed and made-for-production a TPU gasket to protect the insulation on cables from sharp metal edges.
• Created engineering drawings based on my designs for all the above to provide to vendors.
Mechanical Engineering Intern, Jan 2024 – May 2024
• Designed and analyzed “Forced Air Pusher” ducting and selected blowers to cool a high-power CPU.
• Developed a test-rig to mount components together physically and pneumatically to reduce development time.
• Analyzed properties of an existing stick-vacuum solution utilizing an Air Path Test Fixture to find its fan curve.
• Conducted and analyzed over 100 mold/bacteria tests for mop-pad sanitization methods found in competitor products to verify effectiveness and capability in new iRobot products.
Mechanical Engineering Intern, May 2023 – Aug 2023
• Designed and prototyped a “Drop Test Fixture” which can support test-objects of various shapes and sizes up to 20 lbs, to ensure products will survive falls and bumps.
• Developed a “Product Cycle Tester” to latch and unlatch a device from its mount 5000 times to ensure the product’s repeatability to reduce risk of mechanical failure before seeking FDA approval.
• Created a verification test plan to validate mechanical, software, and electrical systems for a “Cable-Winding Test Fixture” to ensure the fixture’s effectiveness for use on every product produced by ZOLL that uses external cables.
Mechanical Engineering Intern, Jun 2022 – Aug 2022
• Designed and 3D printed a custom end-effector a robotic sous-chef to hold COTS bowls for salad.
• Developed an "end of line" module that increased the hourly throughput of salads by 5x and saved approximately $54,000 per year per robot.
