Sonic Journey Between Cities is a composition for amplified clarinet, piano and violin that explores the interplay between grand textures and thin textures. The piece is inspired by my personal experience of moving from a noisy metropolitan city to a calm small city. Hong Kong, a vibrant city, is filled with the sounds of vehicles and people, while the stillness of Denton offers relief from the stresses of the urban soundscape. The juxtaposition of sounds serves as a mirror to the transition between these two contrasting environments.
