About
Sampson Li is a Hong Kong composer currently based in the United States. His work explores timbre, noise, gesture, and interdisciplinary collaboration through acoustic, electroacoustic, and multimedia composition.
His music has been performed or read by ensembles and performers including JACK Quartet, Ensemble Dal Niente, New Morse Code, [Switch~ Ensemble], Romer Quartet, and Barcelona Modern Ensemble.
He was selected for programs and festivals including June in Buffalo, SEAMUS National Conference, Barcelona Modern Festival, and JACK Studio.
His recent work focuses on the relationship between physical performance, sonic texture, and electronic media, often incorporating video, improvisation, and expanded instrumental techniques.
He holds a Master of Arts in Music Composition with a minor in Computer Music at University of North Texas, where he studies with Panayiotis Kokoras and Jon Nelson.
