Currently, I am a senior at IUPUI studying Health Services Management with plans to graduate in May 2022. Before realizing that a major in HSM would be the best fit for me, I was a nursing major. I have always wanted to work in healthcare settings but I had one incident that made me realize that it was for sure what I wanted to do. I was in an ATV accident my senior year of high school, I fractured my neck, and had brain surgery. This made me realize how much I wanted to have an impact on others and work within healthcare. I switched from nursing to Health Services Management because I thought it would be a better fit for me, and I was very right. HSM lets me have so many career options and ways to create change for healthcare systems' operations or functions. From my very first HSM class, I knew this was the degree for me, and I am very excited to start my career field!
