"There's a reason I write for a living..."
I was never destined for a career in public speaking.
Thankfully, I've always had a knack for writing. Since graduating Uni and realising I could write for a living, I haven't looked back.
More than a decade on, I’ve picked up plenty of experience at rapidly-growing B2B companies, helping shape the businesses’ copy, content and brand voice.
I'm quick to understand new concepts, adept at simplifying complex topics and always put the reader first.
I believe memorable copy and content are the foundation of great marketing. I'm always keen to work with people who feel the same. If that's you, don't hesitate to get in touch.

Linkedin is probably the simplest way to see my work history. But here's a potted history:
Consultant: 6sense – rolling contract since Feb 2021. Act as extended member of EMEA marketing team, while supporting U.S. content when time permits.
Consultant: Cledara – contract to help set up this Fintech SaaS Management start up's content and rewrite their website with positive, human, actionable copy. Also worked with Mention Me and 6sense, pre-contract.
In-house: CloudSense – nearly five years at this Salesforce-native CPQ provider. Progressed from Copywriter to Head of Copy & Comms. A great grounding in making complex, technical topics simpler to grasp.
In-house: Yieldify – my two year intro to SaaS and eCommerce. Learnt that content goes further with a strategy behind it. Wrote loads, managed freelancers, a PR agency and the content calendar (not a strategy alone!).
Contract: Aspect Partnership – agency running motor shows in London, America and Canada. I helped write and produce the show magazines, reviewing luxury cars I hadn't really driven (you can see these here).
In-house: Witlr – an oddly named startup where we, a group of graduates, tried to create Linkedin for graduates. We failed, but it was a great introduction to all kinds of writing: direct mail, website copy, blogs, guides, email marketing, social.
Both. I'm English and UK-based, but have actually written more copy in American English over the past few years.
Don't make it all I, we and me.
Ever been cornered at a party by someone who only talks about themself? It's not much fun.*
Don't fall into this trap with your writing. While writing in the first person can make your writing more personable, nobody wants to hear you constantly talk about yourself.
There’s an easy way to test whether your writing is too self-absorbed. Measure the number of times you use you, your, you’re vs I, we or me. This will help you ensure you focus on your reader, not yourself.

*Extra life tip: Carry two drinks at parties. Then you can escape narcissists by excusing yourself to give your friend their drink.
Hello, I'm Sam. I've lived in London for nearly ten years and was brought up near Bath.
If I'm not writing you'll find me:
Greedily consuming content: mostly sports news, real news or fiction
Walking around a South London park with my wife
In the pub with my friends
Watching sport (not so much playing any more)
Cooking or eating – again – greedily
Doing similar to the above, but in a European city so I can feel cultured about it
I enjoyed tuna sandwiches as a young child until some precocious so and so informed me that tuna was fish.
I unknowingly became the face of London's sweltering commuter in 2018, featuring as the over-heating guy pictured in the top story on the Mail Online (highbrow). The headline? "Hottest in Europe."
My wife and I suffer from a holiday curse. Earthquakes, national security threats, and pandemics. One day we'll make it to Sri Lanka.
My goddaughters call me Uncle Pam. A simple yet devastatingly effective takedown.
