Salvatore Cuomo

Associate Professor 

Associate Professor of Numerical Analysis (s.s.d. MAT/08) at the Department of Mathematics and Applications "R. Caccioppoli" (DMA) at the University of Naples Federico II (UNINA). He graduated with honors in Mathematics and then earned a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics and Informatics from the University of Naples Federico II, Italy, in 1997 and 2004, respectively. 

In 2017, he obtained the national scientific qualification as an Associate Professor of Numerical Analysis, and in 2018 for Computer Science and Automatic Systems for Information Processing. 

In 2022, he obtained the national scientific qualification as a Full Professor of Numerical Analysis.

[Teaching Experiences]


He has 20 years of experience in teaching university courses in Mathematics, Mathematics and Statistics, Computer Science, Numerical Analysis, Scientific Computing, Programming Languages, Parallel Programming for Bachelor and master’s degrees in mathematics, Computer Sciences, Engineering, and Biotechnology. Actually, he holds Mathematics and Statistics in a bachelor’s degree in biotechnology and Numerical Methods for Data Analysis in a master’s degree in mathematics. He is responsible for two international Erasmus Traineeship agreements with Erasmus+.

[Visiting and research]

He was a Visiting Research Scholar at Case Western Research University, Ohio, USA in 2016, and a Visiting Professor at the University of Geosciences, Beijing, China in 2019. He has held various roles in managing 15 funded research projects and has been a member of national and international research committees. He has coordinated scientific research and mathematical dissemination projects. He has been an invited speaker at 32 international events and 29 as a speaker. He has organized 34 international events. He has authored numerous articles in international journals and conferences (190+ articles indexed WOS and/or SCOPUS). He has been a Guest Editor and is on the Editorial Board of internationally impactful scientific journals.

[Experinces]


He was elected to the Restricted Board (Giunta) of the Department of Mathematics; president of the Guidance Commission of the Department; President of Mathesis Naples Section; he is a member of Italian Mathematical Union and Industrial and Applied Mathematics Italian Society (SIMAI). He is the vice president of the National Mathesis and president of the Naples Section of the National Mathesis. With regard to positions at the Ministry of University and Research, he served as a member of University Commission for the selection of: Associate Professor, Tenure-Tack; Assistant Professor.
