Details need be legalised and arranged 2 years before the set off.
Intermediate Crew. - Joining for a full leg (4 months)
This initiative is a non for profit basis. No salary is expected. No one will benefit financially from it. All participants are contributors to the project. Their financial contribution is 100% spent towards the boat expenses.
A boat will be acquired for the project and sold thereafter. Any surplus will be refunded to the contributors.
Contribution will be done through "shares" of 500 Francs. For occasional crew, one share will correspond a t minimum of one week at sea.
The fully loaded budget is at 100k, split between the acquisition of the boat (50k) + repairs & maintenance, representing 200 shares.
There will be 5 legs of 4 month each and rest periods.
I will be an occasional crew: contributing member of the project:
I am paying a contribution towards the acquisition and maintenance of the boat. These are "parts" of Eros 500 each.
For each part, I or a friend have the right to a minimum of 1 week aboard.
I am a long term crew sailing through a large part of the journey
For a 3 year project, assuming the costs of the boat are shared between 2, a total all inclusive budget of € 100k per person is required.
Personal costs: Per person, the theory is € 10-15,000 k per year (€1,200 per month / 30-40 Euros per day) per person to be confortable.
Then the boat costs are to be added, around € 3,000 per month including amortisation.
And the contributions from members can be deducted to the expenses related to the boat.
Financing should by no means be an obstacle to any participant to the project. And cost mitigations are possible:
Taking paid passengers on board. Or in other words, association members who finance a part of the boat and then onboard for free. Hence the importance of sharing the costs of the boat
