Schools in Virginia and North Carolina can submit an application to request a pairing with a school in the Académie de Reims in France.
As part of our agreement with the Académie de Reims in France, Virginia and North Carolina schools may request to be paired with a partner school in France. The partnership activities will be determined by the schools after they are paired, and every effort is made to pair schools with similar interests. Partnerships may or may not include student or teacher exchanges as determined by the individual partner schools. Student exchanges are not a required element and the local schools will determine if they want to pursue that at any point.
Partnerships can be geared for French language class activities, or in any other content area class with an interest in building global ties and perspectives. For example, schools could connect their culinary arts programs to learn from each other about cuisines and the culinary business world; science classes could connect to do a project on green schools around the world; history classes could do projects comparing historical events such as WWII as perceived in each country. There is no restriction on the project development other than what is of interest to and feasible for each partner school.
To request a initiate a partnership and be matched with a teacher and school in France, fill out the application form* that includes contact information and project interests. You can also watch the Overview of School Partnerships video and/or view the slides from the video to learn more about this opportunity.
*Please be sure to obtain administrative approval from your school before you submit the request.
