I'm Sakumi Sugawara. I am an assistant professor at Hokkaido University (from April 2025). I got my Ph.D. in September 2024 at Hokkaido University, under the supervision of Professor Naohiko Kasuya.
My research area is topology. I am especially interested in its relationship with low-dimensional manifolds (such as knot theory, complex algebraic curves, and 3-,4- dimensional manifolds), combinatorics (such as hyperplane arrangements), and singularity theory (such as Milnor fibrations). Also, I am interested in quandles, an algebraic structure related to knot theory, algebraic topology, and symmetric spaces.
