Silence the Violence

On June 20th dozens of us gathered at Saint Aidan's to remember and lament the many lives lost to gun violence. We also listened as community leaders and those affected by gun violence shared their stories and updated us on the state of gun violence safety advocacy.

We found out that guns are not supposed to be sold in pawn shops and how we can help make enforcement happen.

On the topic of schools, we learned how to help get the word to students' families on the new safe gun laws and how they can store guns safely in their homes.

We also learned about efforts in counties and in the legislature to make a personal protective order petition free to file. Currently costs are a barrier to people looking for protection. Some counties have made this filing free.

This wonderful event left us hopeful for what the future holds for gun safety.
