St. Aidan's, in partnership with Northside Presbyterian Church, is committed to the stewardship of the earth, advocating for the LGBTQIA+ community, dismantling systems of oppression, and serving the community.
Every year, congregants from St. Aidan's and our sister church, NPC, volunteer to tend the garden on a weekly basis. Harvested produce is donated to Food Gatherers, the lead agency for hunger relief in Washtenaw County.
In 2024, we donated over 300 pounds of produce to Food Gatherers, in 2025 we were able to donate 350 pounds.
St. Aidan's supports the mission of End Gun Violence Michigan. In June 2023, we hosted our first Silence the Violence event. We joined social justice groups throughout Michigan in honoring our beloved siblings who have been lost to gun violence. Victims’ loved ones, students, politicians, advocates, and physicians honored those lost and called for action to end gun violence and the social inequalities that feed them. As a faith community, we will continue our efforts to end gun violence and create justice for the oppressed.
In the spring of 2023, our large pride flag on our sign on Plymouth Road was both vandalized several times and stolen. In response, along with NPC, we started a "Need a Flag, Take a Flag" campaign. We "planted" 300 small Pride flags both by the sign on Plymouth Road and at our Broadway Street entrance. The effort received some press and we are thankful to continue to share God's love to all.
