CREATION CARE
CREATION CARE
The Creation Care Committee at Saint Aidan's Episcopal Church in Ann Arbor seeks to raise awareness of pressing environmental issues—both local and global—within our congregation and the wider diocese. We aim to present these issues clearly, outlining their key components, potential solutions or mitigation strategies, and opportunities for advocacy and action for those who wish to engage.
The committee is currently researching environmental issues such as the presence of “forever chemicals” (PFAS) in Michigan. Another focus is the ongoing cleanup battle with the company responsible for the 1,4-dioxane plume moving beneath Ann Arbor toward the Huron River. The committee has also examined the potential use of solar energy within our church. In addition, we are investigating the nuclear waste facility in southeast Michigan that stores plutonium from the Manhattan Project.
