At Sage Prairie Farm, we take pride in raising healthy, well-cared-for birds and thoughtfully developing our breeding program. Because we work with live animals and biological products, we ask that all customers review the following policies before purchasing.
All chicks leave Sage Prairie Farm healthy and in good condition to the best of our knowledge.
We offer a 48-hour health guarantee beginning when the chick is transferred to the buyer. If a chick passes away within those first 48 hours, please contact us as soon as possible so we can discuss the situation.
Depending on the circumstances and availability, Sage Prairie Farm may offer a replacement chick or refund.
After the initial 48-hour period, we cannot guarantee the health or survival of a chick. Once a chick has left our care, factors including housing, temperature, nutrition, water, stress, handling, illness, and exposure to other birds are outside of our control.
Our hatching eggs are collected from our breeding flock and handled with care before being provided to the buyer.
Individual infertile eggs do not qualify for a replacement or refund.
If multiple eggs from the same order are determined to be infertile, please contact us so we can review the situation. Depending on the circumstances and availability, Sage Prairie Farm may offer replacement eggs or another appropriate resolution.
An egg that does not hatch is not automatically considered infertile. Fertility and hatchability can be affected by incubation conditions, storage, handling, shipping, temperature, humidity, turning, and other factors outside of our control.
We do not guarantee a specific hatch rate.
Once hatching eggs leave Sage Prairie Farm, we cannot control how they are handled, stored, incubated, or transported. Hatch results can vary even when eggs are fertile and properly cared for.
Hatching eggs are carefully inspected and packaged before leaving Sage Prairie Farm.
Once a package is accepted by the shipping carrier, we cannot control how it is handled during transportation. Shipping damage is therefore not automatically eligible for a replacement or refund.
If multiple eggs arrive cracked, broken, or otherwise damaged, please contact us promptly and provide clear photographs of:
The outside of the shipping box
Any damage to the box
The packaging inside the box
The damaged or broken eggs
The overall shipment
Please keep the original packaging until we have had an opportunity to review the situation.
Each situation will be considered individually. Depending on the extent of the damage and the number of eggs affected, Sage Prairie Farm may offer a discount or another appropriate accommodation.
A replacement or refund is not automatically guaranteed for shipping damage.
Shipping costs are separate from the price of the hatching eggs.
Shipping charges will depend on the quantity of eggs, packaging requirements, weight, destination, and current shipping rates.
Shipping charges are generally non-refundable.
For privacy and biosecurity reasons, customers will not normally be permitted onto our private property.
Local purchases may be arranged through a mutually agreed-upon public meeting location.
Pickup and meet-up arrangements will be discussed with the buyer after the purchase has been confirmed.
Certain birds, chicks, or breeding projects may be available for reservation depending on the season and availability.
Any deposit or reservation terms will be clearly communicated before payment is made.
Sage Prairie Farm carefully plans breeding projects based on factors such as genetics, health, temperament, conformation, feathering, weather adaptability, and the goals of each individual project.
We may occasionally offer select crosses when we determine that the pairing is appropriate and beneficial to our breeding program.
Breeding decisions remain at the discretion of Sage Prairie Farm. Not every requested pairing will be possible or appropriate.
Genetics can produce variation in offspring. We cannot guarantee the exact appearance, coloration, markings, feathering, size, temperament, or other characteristics an offspring will develop as it matures.
Unless specifically stated otherwise, chicks are sold as unsexed chicks and their sex is not guaranteed.
Once birds or eggs have been transferred to the buyer, the buyer is responsible for providing appropriate housing, temperature, nutrition, clean water, biosecurity, and general care.
Buyers are encouraged to research the specific needs of the breed or project they are purchasing before bringing birds or hatching eggs home.
The health of our flock is a priority. We reserve the right to decline or postpone a sale if we have concerns regarding the health of our flock, the health of a bird being sold, unsafe weather conditions, or circumstances that could negatively affect the birds.
As Sage Prairie Farm grows, our policies may be updated to reflect changes in our breeding program, availability, shipping practices, or applicable requirements.
The policies in effect at the time of purchase will apply to that transaction.
We collect hatching eggs regularly throughout the week and make every effort to ship them as fresh as reasonably possible.
Our goal is to ship eggs within approximately 7 days of being laid whenever possible. We do not intentionally hold eggs for extended periods before shipping.
Eggs intended for hatching are handled and stored specifically for incubation. We take care to keep them in appropriate conditions before they are prepared for shipment.
Hatching eggs are not routinely washed. This helps preserve the egg's natural protective coating.
We select clean, intact eggs whenever possible.
Hatching eggs are carefully packaged using protective materials designed to help reduce movement and damage during transportation.
We take every reasonable precaution when preparing orders for shipment, but shipping always carries some risk.
No. We cannot guarantee a specific hatch rate.
Even fertile eggs can fail to develop or hatch due to factors such as shipping, storage, handling, incubation temperature, humidity, turning, incubator conditions, and natural embryo development.
Inspect your package and eggs as soon as possible after delivery.
If the package or eggs appear damaged, take photographs before disposing of anything.
If everything looks good, follow appropriate hatching-egg handling and incubation practices before setting your eggs.
If eggs arrive broken or significantly damaged, please contact us promptly.
Please send clear photographs of:
The outside of the shipping box
Any visible damage to the box
The packaging inside
The broken or damaged eggs
The overall shipment
Please keep the box and packaging until we have reviewed the situation.
We will look at the extent of the damage and the number of eggs affected and determine what, if any, accommodation may be appropriate.
Depending on the situation, this may include a discount or another resolution.
Individual damaged eggs do not automatically qualify for replacement or refund.
If there is significant damage affecting multiple eggs, please contact us with photographs so we can review the shipment.
If you believe multiple eggs from your order are infertile, please contact us so we can discuss the situation.
Individual infertile eggs do not qualify for replacement or refund.
If multiple eggs are determined to be infertile, Sage Prairie Farm may offer replacement eggs or another appropriate resolution depending on the circumstances and availability.
Please remember that an egg that does not hatch is not necessarily infertile.
Shipping is calculated separately from the price of the eggs.
The cost will depend on the number of eggs ordered, packaging requirements, total weight, destination, and current shipping rates.
Shipping availability will depend on the destination and the current shipping options available to us.
We will discuss shipping arrangements with the buyer before completing the order.

You are welcome to ask about our current and upcoming breeding projects.
Sage Prairie Farm makes all breeding decisions based on the genetics, health, temperament, conformation, feathering, and goals of each project.
Select crosses may become available when we determine that the pairing is appropriate for our breeding program.
You're welcome to reach out about breeds, colors, or projects you're interested in.
We cannot guarantee that a specific bird or project will be available, but we're happy to let you know what we currently have planned or what may become available in the future.
Our regular hatching egg and chick availability is expected to begin around March 2027 as our flock matures and our breeding projects develop.
Some newer projects may take longer before they are ready to produce or become available.
