Chickens have always been a part of my life. Growing up in the country, I’ve always loved being around them, and what started as a lifelong interest has grown into something I’m excited to build into my own breeding program.
Sage Prairie Farm is still in its early stages, and I’m taking the time to grow my flock thoughtfully and build something that reflects the way I believe poultry should be raised. I do my research before starting new breeding projects and consider more than just appearance. Genetics, feathering, conformation, temperament, weather adaptability, and overall health all play a role in the birds I choose to keep and breed.
Temperament is especially important to me. I want my flock to be made up of healthy, calm, friendly birds, and I handle my chicks from the very beginning. My birds have plenty of space to roam and free-range, and I take pride in keeping a clean, comfortable environment for them.
Sage Prairie Farm is located in Toutle, Washington, on our property’s beautiful 100-year-old orchard. This land is a special part of what makes the farm feel like home, and it’s where my flock is growing and where many of my breeding projects will begin.
Most of all, this farm is something I genuinely enjoy. I love learning about chickens, watching new projects develop, and connecting with other people who share the same passion. Sage Prairie Farm is my way of combining that passion with a carefully built breeding program while sharing these birds and the experience with our community.
This is just the beginning, and I’m excited to see where it grows.
